Recyclart

Ouest architecture

Recyclart is a longstanding social and cultural project, combining a craftsmanship center for low-skilled workers to enter the job market, with an arts centre and bar resto. In 2018, Recyclart was forced to leave its original location in a train-station downtown Brussels (La Chapelle station), and moved to an abandoned industrial facility that was renovated and transformed by Ouest Architecture. Making use of the original lay-out of architectural elements around a large courtyard, Recyclart opens up to the public and its different users on this central public square. Due to Covid, the programme with parties, shows, exhibitions, community-based initiatives and lectures had to be rethought and rearranged: while the courtyard is still open to the public, the façades around are used as a diorama for performances and concerts.

The visit on 10.10.2020 at 11H00 in French will be guided by the architect Stéphane Damsin.
