Porte de Ninove Park

Suede 36 & Base

A vacant area along the canal that remained unused for a long time has been transformed into a lively park. It connects and brings together three adjacent neighborhoods. The undefined open space allows for all sorts of uses. While parks are usually zoned, offering social spaces along the outskirts and trails and sports activities in the lesser defined zones, Porte de Ninove park blends and mixes these uses throughout the space. Three concentric concrete circles of varying heights structure the space, and can be used as benches or playgrounds. Located on one of Brussels’ lowest topographic points, the park also scenographies water infiltration in case of floods, while maintaining social activities.

The visit on 10.10.2020 at 10H00 in French will be guided by the architect Christophe Mercier.
