Guided tour / Project nominated for the Brussels Architecture Prize
Jupiter House
Vers Plus de Bien-Être (V+), in collaboration with Paul Mouchet (Central OFAU) and Sophie Dars (Accatone), 2022
Set at the back of the garden of an imposing villa built in the 1920s, Jupiter House has many facets. Each of its spaces – whether devoted to hospitality, retreat, leisure and/or work – is the bearer of an imagination that reconciles the desire for a change of scenery with the pleasure of being “local” in the city. The facades and garden have been designed to accommodate a diversity of plants and animals.
V+ has opted for a low-tech approach, using as many local and accessible resources as possible. The wood used for the floors and staircases, for example, comes from trees felled in Duden Park and is therefore particularly local, as is the clay used to cover walls fitted with a wood-burning stove heating system. The ground floor was covered with granite made from construction waste.
