Guided tour / Sustainable Architecture
Gerfauts by Up
Contracting authority and architect: Julien Kessler (Architect - UP! architects)
This tour takes place in the architect's own home, a renovated single-family house with the lowest possible environmental impact. Today, the focus is on maximising insulation to reduce energy consumption, but it is equally important to consider the use of more environmentally friendly insulation materials. For finishing materials, more natural or reclaimed options such as clay or wood can be considered.
In this project, Julien Kessler faced the challenges of financing (the financial reality of the project: how far to go?) and urban planning regulations.
The project addresses a wide range of themes: reuse, insulation, energy, rainwater and graywater, natural materials, experimentation with raw earth, light, energy recovery, heat pumps and more.
