The Canal quayside is the site for the massive new building of the local Brussels brewery Brussels Beer Project. Its bright roof, which is a reminder of the brewer's beer cans, grabs attention. Inside, everything is in readiness for the launch in 2022. Stacked on a large ‘table’, or a platform that creates a mezzanine in the spacious hangar, the brewing equipment is ready to go.

The area surrounding the brewery is undergoing a complete transformation. A new district will be resurrected in years to come in ‘Biestebroek’. The brewery is one of the first new projects. An exceptional feature is that it offers space for a productive programme, even a stacked factory, within a property development that focuses mainly on living space and offices. It establishes a form of productivity and employment in the existing and future district. Will the project be capable of establishing a bridge between these two? Can the beer garden become a place for new and old residents to gather? The architecture, with generous spaces and the playful roof, is certainly inviting.
