Guided tour / Project nominated for the Brussels Architecture Prize
334 CYGNES
Karbon’ architecture et urbanisme, 2023
On the ground floor of the imposing Victory House, the modernist apartment building occupying the northeast corner of Place Flagey, an original intergenerational project has been launched. With the help of the Brussels Region, it was jointly managed by the Société Immobilière de Service Public BinHôme and the Municipality of Ixelles.
The aim was to fill several gaps in the district, in terms of accessible housing for the elderly, semi-public spaces dedicated to early childhood and public green spaces in the interior of the block. This is how the Karbon' cooperative came to create a welcoming, environmentally-friendly space designed to foster links between generations. It combines a communal home for senior citizens on the street side and in the rear garden a bright child-oriented café set in a green setting that is open to the public during the day.
Practical information
Only the community café will be accessible during the tour.
The café will be open to the public from 10:00 to 18:00.
