About the Brussels Architecture Prize

For its 5th edition in 2023, archiweek is opening the doors to projects nominated by the Brussels Architecture Prize jury. This will allow the public to follow in the footsteps of jury members, visit gems throughout the city and decide which project earns their vote for the People's Choice Award to be presented on 12 December 2023.

The Brussels Architecture Prize is an initiative of the Brussels-Capital Region that is implemented by Urban in co-production with A+ Architecture in Belgium. Every two years, the Brussels Architecture Prize rewards outstanding architectural projects that contribute to the spatial quality of the Brussels-Capital Region. The prize was awarded for the first time in 2021. The Brussels Architecture Prize highlights Brussels as a metropolis with great spatial qualities where both established names and young architects can gain a foothold, as a laboratory for contemporary architecture and urban planning where innovative projects are actively supported, and as a source of inspiration for an urban policy that reaches far beyond the region’s borders.

The prize rewards recent realizations by Belgian or foreign architects in Brussels and by Brussels offices in Flanders, Wallonia or abroad. Any architect with an architectural office in Brussels or the author of a building that contributes to the quality of the capital, completed between January 2020 and June 2023, can enter a submission. Both young and established architects can apply with small, innovative interventions and large, public interventions.

DISCOVER THE NOMINATED PROJECTS
Last June, the jury members met to discuss the submitted projects of the second edition of the Brussels Architecture Prize. Dorte Mandrup (President of the Jury, Dorte Mandrup Arkitekter A/S), Job Floris (Vice-President, Monadnock), Eva Prats (Flores y Prats Arquitectos), Markus Bader (raumlabor), Meriem Chabani (New South) and Kaye Geipel (bauwelt) were impressed by the multitude and quality of architectural production in Brussels.
