Tictac Art Centre
Team: David Zambrano and Mat Voorter
Hidden behind an anonymous garage in a typical Anderlecht boulevard lies the wonderful world of the Tictac Art Centre. The graffiti artwork and a small showcase at the entrance give a sneak peek of what can be found beyond the façade. Three years ago, artists David Zambrano and Mat Voorter rented the former printing press building, which they then gradually transformed into a place full of colour, movement and opportunity. Workshops, dance classes, performances, concerts and rehearsals are held here almost every day for and by Brussels and international artists. A visit to the Tictac Art Centre is a journey of discovery through the universe of the two artists and the community of dancers and performers they have brought together here.
The project shows how an artistic project can make a part of the city its own and transform it into a welcoming, human-scale environment. The artists worked directly with contractors and mural artists on the conversion of the former printing press, with no assistance from architects or engineers. Here we have contemporary architecture expressed as an artistic process, using the city as its material.
The visits on 16.10.2021 and 17.10.2021 at 11:00 and 12:00 will be given by the Tictac Art Centre team.
