Transformations of industrial heritage can lead towards a quality requalification not only of the building itself, but in some cases an entire neighbourhood but also its immediate surroundings. This architects’ self-initiated reconversion of a former goldsmiths forge into a creative enclosure for habitation and work focuses on creating a spontaneous, lively and bustling environment. Green patios reorganize the complex from the inside out, creating unexpected visual interactions between the different working and living programmes. The project is also exemplary for its intricate transition between the collectivity of the public and open areas and the individually designed private spaces.
