Education / Guided tour

École plurielle Maritime

VERS.A

Education being one of the main pillars of society, space for education is crucial in Brussels. This need becomes even more urgent in very densely built neighborhoods. The re-use of our built environment, in this case a former factory, offers an economic solution and gives new importance to a previously anonymous building. Selective demolition, the re-use of existing materials, structural elements as indicators of the rhythms of the classrooms and a generous circulation space as meeting place, are key elements for how this building generates a revival of the neighborhood and opens conditions towards social inclusion.
