BTL kindergarten & Primary School

URA, Yves Malysse and Kiki Verbeeck, 2020

Occupying the tip of a dense block forming a historic enclave in the Domaine Royal and running along the majestic Notre-Dame de Laeken church, the De Telescoop school complex combines two typologies. Towards the church, on Avenue du Parc Royal, a neoclassical double dwelling from the 1870s has been converted into a kindergarten. The superimposed classrooms are served by an all-glass rear stairwell that opens onto the communal courtyard.

On the other side, towards Rue Desmaré, a new block houses the primary school, with classrooms on the first floor and a multi-purpose sports hall on the second, offering views on both the Domaine Royal and the church. The building's spaces are largely open, allowing interaction between the various users of the premises: those of the school, but also those of the local area, since the school's facilities are shared with the district.

The visit on Sunday 19.11.2023 at 13:00 will be given by one of the architects.
